EPA Brownfields Program - Howard Street
New London Brownfields Assessment Program
Overview:
The City of New London was awarded a $200,000 grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to conduct environmental investigations of known or potentially contaminated properties that are undeveloped, or underdeveloped. The investigation and clean-up of key properties in the City will enhance the opportunities for development and economic growth. The program includes community outreach components which seek to inform the public and other stakeholders about the program, and to gather information from interested parties to ensure that neighborhood concerns and goals are being addressed. The program is currently targeting vacant land along the west side of Howard Street in the Fort Trumbull “Gateway” area.
Community Outreach/Informational Sessions are currently planned as Follows:
Neighborhood Alliance Meeting - September 13th - 7 P.M. at the Martin Center – Broad Street
Community Outreach Informational Meeting – September 28th– 7 P.M. – Community Health Center – Hamilton Street
