Fire Prevention Permit

The Fire Prevention Division investigates fire causes and supervises the department's building inspection and fire safety program in accordance with the requirements of Connecticut General Statues.  In this assignment, the Fire Marshal integrates the division efforts with those of the Housing Code Enforcement team and various other federal state local agencies.  Among the other assignments are the issuance of various licenses and permits, such as gasoline, pump tank permits.  Back-up personnel assistance for this division is provided by the Battalion Chiefs, whose duties include those of Deputy Fire Marshal, and inspection assistance is provided by other operational personnel assigned on a day-by-day basis.  The Fire Prevention Division is staffed by the Fire Marshal, two Fire Inspectors (both currently vacant) and a Secretary, for a total of four (4) employees.
